A little while ago we came across a dog that had been hit by a car and we rushed him to the vet surgery in Palmwoods. The staff there were amazing, they instantly stepped into action no questions asked. We couldn't stay that day and had to go, but it was so nice to get the phonecall later letting us know that she made it through and the owners had been located. Such a beautiful community out here. Pet Care — Veterinary Clinic in Palmwoods, QLD

Palmwoods Veterinary Clinic is a must-visit when you bring a new pet into your life. Whether you have your first puppy or kitten, our specialists can help you understand the basics of pet care. Our consultations and check-ups are also helpful if you want to ensure that your older pet is healthy and in great shape!

Pet Care — Veterinary Clinic in Palmwoods, QLD

Pets, on average, age five to eight times faster than humans. By age two, most pets have already reached adulthood. At age four, many are entering middle age. By age seven, many dogs, particularly larger breeds, are entering their senior years.

Given the rapid aging of pets and the importance of early decisions on their long term health, it is critical to consult with a veterinarian regarding pet care strategies.

Palmwoods Veterinary Clinic is not only the best place to visit when your pet is sick or injured but also to receive advice regarding proactive steps you can take starting today.

Since pets age so rapidly, significant health changes can occur in a short amount of time. The risk of cancer, diabetes, obesity, arthritis, heart disease and other severe conditions all increase with age.

Since pets today are living longer than ever, the chances are that many may experience a potentially serious illness during their lifetime. Annual health checks can help your veterinarian diagnose, treat or even prevent problems before they become life-threatening. They’re also an excellent opportunity to ask us about nutrition, behaviour or any other issues.

No treatment can be entirely successful without an accurate diagnosis of injuries or disease. That’s why Palmwoods Veterinary Clinic invests so much money in our x-rays and ultrasounds, ensuring your pets and farm animals have access to the best equipment during the diagnosis phase of their treatment.

A microchip is about the size of a grain of rice and injected under your pet’s skin. It can be done right after their birth or during a regular consultation. The microchip is embedded with a code unique to your pet and is the most effective form of permanent identification. This code is placed onto a national computer database, so it is particularly useful in the return of lost pets. They can also assist where the ownership of an animal is in dispute. In some states of Australia, microchipping your pets is compulsory.

If a pet is ever lost and is handed in at a veterinary clinic or animal shelter, a microchip scanner is passed over the animal to reveal the unique code. The vet or animal shelter can then refer to the database to identify the name, address and phone number of the owner so that they can be reunited.
